What's Inside

Here you can find basic information about the tools included in the ResMoGraph package.

Fusion Macros

This list comprises tools designed for Fusion Tab. Access them by right-clicking and selecting Add Tool > Macros > ResMoGraph, or press Shift+Space and type the tool's name.

GradientColor

Tool version: 1.0.0
ResMoGraph > Color > GradientColor

This macro allows you to remap colors. It takes a source channel (e.g., Luminance) and adjusts colors based on a gradient.

It's an alternative to the Colorama effect in After Effects.

Input is the source to process.
Effect Mask limits the area of the effect.

Channel dropdown menu defines which channel from the source will be used for remapping.
Low - High specify the range of the channel.
Invert checkbox inverts the channel.

Gradient and related controls allow you to set colors that will replace the original ones.
Tip: The gradient may include colors with alpha.

Interpolation Space determines how to calculate in-between colors in the gradient.
Offset moves the position of the gradient relative to the channel values.

Repeat defines what happens when Offset moves the gradient:
= Once: Does not repeat the gradient.
= Repeat: The gradient repeats itself.
= Ping-Pong: The gradient repeats in reverse.

Cycle Length  ⭐ pro (1)
Appears only when Repeat is not set to Once. It controls the "thickness" of the gradient pattern. The lower the value, the more loops of the gradient you will see.

  1. Available only in the pro version of the pack.

Sub-Pixel adjusts sub-pixel precision. Higher values increase render time.

This tab contains standard controls such as Blend, Process and other controls related to the Effect Mask.

TwoColor

Tool version: 1.0.0
ResMoGraph > Color > TwoColor

This macro makes a duotone visual effect by using a source channel (e.g., Luminance) as a reference. It works faster than GradientColor, but its possibilities are limited to two colors.

It's an alternative to the Tint effect in After Effects.

This macro is identical in both the free and pro versions of the pack.

Input is the source to process.
Effect Mask limits the area of the effect.

Channel dropdown menu defines which channel from the source will be used as a reference.
Low - High specify the range of the channel.
Invert checkbox inverts the channel.

Color 1 and Color 2 will tint the picture.
Tip: Also works with alpha.

This tab contains standard controls such as Blend, Process and other controls related to the Effect Mask.
Tip: Try to play with Blend and Process. They can yield incredibly attractive colors.

RoughBorder

Tool version: 1.0.0
ResMoGraph > Edges > RoughBorder

This macro creates roughen, irregular edges on a border of transparency.

It's an alternative to the Roughen Edges effect in After Effects.

Input is the source to process.
Effect Mask limits the area of the effect.

Map  ⭐ pro (1)
Custom pattern for roughness. If not applied, the macro will use default noise as a map.
Tip: You can use animation or video as a custom map.

  1. Available only in the pro version of the pack.

Thickness controls the border thickness.
Sharpness controls the border sharpness.
Tip: If the sliders are too limited for your needs, you can set higher values manually.

Expand offsets the borderline, either increasing or decreasing the source shape.
Gain provides additional flexibility for the border adjustments.
Tip: Increasing Expand and decreasing Gain results in more penetration of transparency inside the shape.

Curve  ⭐ pro (1)
This curve allows for more precise control over the fading of edges.
Tip: To reset the curve, right-click on it and choose Reset.

  1. Available only in the pro version of the pack.

In this tab, you can find controls that adjust the roughness pattern. The visibility of some controls depends on whether the custom Map is connected or not.  ⭐ pro (1)

  1. The free version of the pack has only controls that customize the default noise pattern.

Center moves the map.
Size resizes the map.
Aspect changes the aspect ratio of the map.
Angle rotates the map.

When custom map is not connected:

Default noise pattern applied.

Detail changes the complexity of the noise.
Contrast changes the contrast of the noise.(1)
Seethe shifts the noise evolution.
Seethe Rate sets the speed at which the noise evolves over time.

  1. As a result, it may influence the sharpness of the border.

Loop Duration  ⭐ pro (1)
This control creates a seamlessly looping animation of the noise. It defines the duration in frames for the loop. For example, setting the value to 50 will make the noise animation seamlessly repeat every 50 frames. If the value is 0, the loop is disabled. This control works together with Seethe Rate, which determines the speed; if Seethe Rate is set to 0, the loop effect is also disabled.(2)

  1. Available only in the pro version of the pack.
  2. Under the hood, it doesn't produce a truly seamless looping noise; it only fakes it. The loop effect is achieved through a blend of two FastNoise nodes, with countermeasures taken against contrast loss.

Random Seed and Reseed  ⭐ pro (1)
Alter the seed of the noise.(2)

  1. Available only in the pro version of the pack.
  2. However, it doesn't actually reseed the noise. Under the hood, it randomly changes the Seethe value of FastNoise node, so it looks like you get a new pattern.
When custom map is connected: (only in the pro version) ⭐

Flip mirrors the custom map horizontally or vertically.
Invert checkbox inverts the map.
Soft Edge blurs the custom map.
Channel dropdown menu defines which channel from the map will be used for the pattern.
Low - High specify the range of the channel.

This tab contains standard controls such as Blend, Process and other controls related to the Effect Mask.

LoopNoise

Tool version: 1.0.0
ResMoGraph > Generate > LoopNoise

With this macro, you can generate a seamlessly looping animation of Perlin noise.(1) It largely replicates the functionality of the FastNoise node but adds a looping animation feature.

  1. Under the hood, it doesn't produce a truly seamless looping noise; it only fakes it. The loop effect is achieved through a blend of two FastNoise nodes, with countermeasures taken against contrast loss.

Limitations

This macro comes with two main disadvantages compared to FastNoise:

  1. Firstly, it doesn't support gradient.
  2. Secondly, its performance is slower than the original node.

If you don't intend to create seamlessly looping noise, there's no reason to choose this macro over FastNoise.

Effect Mask limits the area of the effect.

Detail Map  ⭐ pro (1) controls the complexity of the noise.
Brightness Map  ⭐ pro (2) controls brightness.
Tip: Unlike FastNoise, you can connect not only masks to Detail Map or Brightness Map but any footage.

  1. Available only in the pro version of the pack.
  2. Available only in the pro version of the pack.

This tab modifies Perlin noise and includes the same options as FastNoise, along with two additional controls:

Loop Duration
This control creates a seamlessly looping animation of the noise. It defines the duration in frames for the loop. For example, setting the value to 50 will make the noise animation seamlessly repeat every 50 frames. If the value is 0, the loop is disabled. This control works together with Seethe Rate, which determines the speed; if Seethe Rate is set to 0, the loop effect is also disabled.

Random Seed and Reseed alter the seed of the noise.(1)

  1. However, it doesn't actually reseed the noise. Under the hood, it randomly changes the Seethe value of FastNoise node, so it looks like you get a new pattern.

Color 1 and Color 2 define the color of the noise.

This tab lacks the gradient option available in FastNoise.

Global In/Out controls the visibility, start time and duration of the macro.

Width and Height determine the resolution of the generated image.
Pixel Aspect adjusts the proportion of individual pixels.
Note that Pixel Aspect, Width and Height are locked when Auto Resolution is enabled.

Auto Resolution auto-detects the resolution.
Depth refers to the bit depth of color information. int8 and int16 options are unavailable due to blending artifacts.

This tab is only available in the  ⭐ pro  version of the pack.

It relates to the Detail Map and Brightness Map inputs, allowing adjustments to the sources that feed into those inputs. There are two identical groups of controls, one for each map input. If the map is not connected, the controls have no effect.

Fit Input - choose a method for fitting the map to the generated noise.
Center adjusts the position of the map.
Channel dropdown menu defines which channel from the source will be used for the map.
Low - High specify the range of the channel.
Clip Black and White limits the color values of the map within a range of 0 and 1.
Invert checkbox inverts the channel.

This tab contains standard controls related to the Effect Mask.
